We are in the midst of an uncertain time in history.
There’s so much we don’t know about the long term effects of COVID-19 as it affects every facet of our lives.

It is with this consideration that we write to you today.

We’ve been torn about the best action to take with the heightened awareness about this pandemic that we are facing together.

Here’s what we do know.  We know that Yoga is needed more than ever before.  We need the practice to calm our anxiety, stay connected in the community, and stay optimistic in such challenging times.

As many longtime Yogis can attest, yoga practice provides protection for our immune system day by day.

Science proved that Yoga lowers stress hormones that compromise the immune system, while improving our lungs capacity and conditioning our respiratory tract.

It also assists in stimulating the lymphatic system to remove toxins from the body, and bringing oxygenated blood to the various organs to optimize their respective function.

”Yoga is unlike other forms of exercise that focus only on certain parts of the body,” says Kathleen Fry, M.D., president of the American Holistic Medicine Association in Scottsdale, Arizona. “Yoga works on everything.”

Knowing this, here’s what we aim to do:

1.  We will limit the class size to 15 max in the hot room and 8 max for the classes in the aerial room, which will allow us to have 3 ft distance in the class.  Please sign up prior to attending as we will be reinforcing this effective immediately.

2.  We will not be using any assistive props such as blocks, straps, bolsters, etc as we are not able to keep up with the sanitation.

3.  We will put forth practices within our center to limit your touching things other than your personal belongings.  Please limit the items you bring into the studio so that you can keep your belongings with you unless it’s a “hot” class.

4.  Aerial classes will be cancelled for now effective immediately.  (It’s impossible to keep the aerial sanitary at all times)

5.  We will continue to practice sanitation practices by wiping down ALL surface areas, door knobs, and practice impeccable hygiene practices for all our teachers and employees.

6.  We will make sure no one comes into the studio who’s sick by asking them to leave.

7.  We will continue to monitor the news and updates from the CDC and take it day by day.

8.  We will find a way to offer the classes online in order to provide you with the benefits of Yoga as stated above.

It’s wise and important to remember that while there’s so much fear around COVID-19, that we must do our part in self care to boost our immune system to be able to improve our resiliency in “fighting” this risk.

This means doing everything you can to stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Team Alkaline
