Hey everyone, I hope you are off to a great start for this new decade ahead of us.
My team and I have been so excited to see all the new faces at our center and are so encouraged by the transformations taking place.
It truly is becoming the healing place full of positive energy all around.
Today I want to discuss what the Alkaline Method is. No only is it our brand, but it’s a way of life.
I’ve searched for the ultimate truths to a healthy life. It wasn’t until this past year that all my years of training converged to provide me with clarity on what health really means.
For so long, I’ve had to piece meal all the healing modalities for my personal healing. At the core, I always knew there’s got to be a better way.
In a strange way, I think even as a young woman, I was seeking answers for a greater solution.
I have a Bachelors in Psychology, Masters in Public Health/Nutrition, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Basically, I chose to study the mind in college, nutrition in graduate school, and movement rehab as a Doctoral candidate.
I’ve spent the last two decades applying and living the solutions that I deemed would help me to have a full recovery from the bouts of flares with my chronic condition.
Alkaline Method Pillars
The Alkaline Method combines all realms of our being: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
We as human beings are so busy “doing” that we stopped “being”.
I began to see a trend and a pattern in my patients. I saw that they all struggled with past trauma and regrets that perpetuated their disease process.
If we didn’t address these issues, they might have improved temporarily from our treatments, but ultimately the symptoms would come back.
I consider health to be a journey. The Alkaline Method is a Self Healing Journey, implying that it’s not about a set destination.
The Alkaline Method provides you with a framework to constantly check yourselves to bring you back to who you are.
For each of the 6 pillars of the Alkaline Method, there is a physical implication, mental and emotional implication, and spiritual implication.
Take a look at this chart.
The first pillar is Foundation. Physically, your foundation is your base of support.
Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, your foundation is your truth.
Second pillar is alignment. Physically, this is when all your joints are in proper alignment.
Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, your thoughts, feelings, and actions align with your truth.
Third pillar is core. Physically, you should activate your core musculature with every movement you do, which provides you with a strong foundation.
Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually this is your core beliefs that drive your actions.
Fourth pillar is polarity. Physically, polarity is the oppositional force that allows us to activate the proper muscles.
Mentally and emotionally, this is the dichotomies of life that are inevitable. For example, we can’t have happiness without sadness. Hot without cold. Light without dark. We need both in life.
And spiritually, polarity is the reflection os ourselves in others.
Breath | Focus
Fifth pillar is breath/focus. Physically, breath is what guides your movements.
Mentally and spiritually we use breath to cultivate focus. Spiritually, breath is used in prayer and meditation.
Symmetry | Balance
Finally, the sixth pillar is symmetry and balance. Physically, we want the right and left sides of the body to be symmetrical.
Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually we are balanced.
Alkaline Way of Life
Mother of learning is repetition, so we will be incorporating this concept in all that we do.
In our Yoga classes we want to get you to begin thinking about the 6 pillars to check your practice physically, mentally, and spiritually.
We know that mindless repetition hardly leads you to grow and evolve. Our aim is to ensure you are growing physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to live at a higher level.
We have a lofty goal of bridging the gap between sick care and healthcare.
If you apply the Alkaline Method in all that you do, you will be on your way to your healing journey.
On this journey you can become empowered to take responsibility for your health by learning to manage your body, thoughts, emotions, and live life on purpose.
Thanks for joining me!
See you next time.
